Initially, we had a suite of microservices built by developers so we could collect online data by ourselves. However, we quickly understood that as the online sphere rapidly changes, we would have needed to employ someone full-time to be able to adjust our platform constantly to deal with these changes and collect the data we needed.
We’ve been using Bright Data for around a year and we are very happy with the results. Initially, we were using Bright Data for the IP proxy network, but when they came out with their automated data collection product, the Data collector, we decided to expand our project. It’s worked exceptionally well. The two main results we were looking to achieve were the ability to collect data with very quick turnarounds, and consistency in performance. Both of these have been achieved with the Data collector. With the Data collector, we’re able to outsource our data collection efforts and get the online data we need so we can focus on our core business and build excellent analytical solutions for our customers.
For one of our clients, a large, multinational Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) company we needed to collect large amounts of online data in the vitamins, minerals, and supplements space. With the Data collector, we just request the types of data we need (product attributes from around 12,000 to 13,000 target domains), and it’s delivered to us in a CSV file. From there, we feed the data to our machine learning model for Natural Language Processing (NLP). Our client is very happy with the results we’ve achieved with the Data collector and is now using it for their 2021 pipeline planning as well.
