Postman Proxy Integration

What is Postman?

Postman, in combination with Bright Data’s proxy solutions, emerges as a dynamic and robust tool for API development and testing. It streamlines the creation, management, and execution of API requests, offering an intuitive interface with comprehensive testing suites. By leveraging Bright Data’s advanced proxy network, Postman enhances its functionality, providing secure, scalable, and efficient means for handling API requests across various environments. This integration ensures a seamless and effective workflow for developers seeking to optimize API performance and security.

Setting up Postman proxies with Bright Data

Registration on Bright Data:

Sign up on the Bright Data platform.

Zone Configuration:

Navigate to the “Proxy & Scraping Infrastructure” section and Add a new designated Zone for your proxy usage.

Proxy type selection:

Select the type of proxies you need. In this example, ISP will be selected.

IP type selection:

Name your solution. Set the IP type to “Dedicated”

Select number of IPs:

Fill in the number of IPs you need.

IP location:

Choose your desired country and city for the IP location.

Specify domains:

Specific domains or use ‘All domains’ for one IP to target websites using the same IP.

Create zone:

Click the “Add” button to create the Zone.

Access parameters

Accessing proxy details:

Click on the name of your Zone, navigate to the “Access Parameters” tab, and note down the proxy credentials:

  • host
  • port
  • username
  • password
download postman

Download Postman:

Register and download latest Postman version https://www.postman.com/downloads/

Create Workspace

In the Postman software click on ‘Workspaces’ and then click on ‘Create Workspace’.

Choose template:

Then you can choose one of the following templates or use Blank,

Give it a name and create it

Once you chose a template, give it a name and click on ‘Create’

Click on the + sign to add a new request then click on the gear icon and choose “settings”

Custom proxy configuration:

Now toggle “Use custom proxy configuration” and fill the Access parameters from your control panel.

test connection

Test connection:

To test the connection we will simply send a GET request to : https://lumtest.com/myip.json
