What did you study?
I have a Bachelor’s degree in East Asian studies and Arabic, and a Master’s degree in linguistics from NCCU (Taipei).
Tell us about your time at Bright Data?
I returned to Israel in 2017 after living in Taipei for 7 years. I worked at a few technological companies, but in 2019, I applied to Bright Data because they were looking for employees who were fluent in Chinese. I was always passionate about the language and wanted to keep using it in my career. So I jumped on the opportunity – as a Chinese support manager for around a year. Then they opened the compliance department – it was only 3 other people – and they needed someone as a compliance officer for China. So, I moved from support to compliance – and I have been on the team ever since.
What interests you about the compliance field?
It’s never static. There’s always something happening. We have our ‘norms’ and rules and regulations that we obviously follow – but everything is so dynamic and changing so quickly – so it keeps it very interesting. It’s also so important to work with a team that you respect and get along with because you’re not an island in compliance – you always need your team. So we are a very close team.
Advice for someone wanting to get into the compliance field?
You need to have a lot of patience and be a team player. You have to be flexible in the way you think – things can be very dynamic – just because yesterday, we as a team decided ‘A’ doesn’t mean tomorrow it will still stay the same. You have to be able to think outside the box and do a lot of thorough research. That’s why we have a picture of Sherlock Holmes in our area:)
What's kept you at Bright Data for 3 years?
I actually really like the DNA. I like the way things run here. I like the work/life balance. Even Or, the CEO, always talks about it – ‘do your job, do it well, and then go home.’ I worked at other tech companies where there were lots of meetings that were a waste of time – at Bright Data, we don’t have any of that – everything is very ‘to the point.
Future plans?
I want to develop myself in the compliance team. I think there are lots of opportunities here, and I’m aiming to reach higher.
